  • Let the customer easily check that they’ve received all the products they’ve paid for. Or, if you’re shipping in several rounds, the customer can see what they’ve received so far and what they’ve yet to receive
  • Leave the customers with a professional impression of your business

  • Easily see what you’ve shipped to customers in the past
  • Quickly invoice your customer, since you can use the delivery note to plot in the invoice

You can also get the customer to sign and return the delivery note. That’s called recorded delivery or signed for delivery.

The delivery note helps the customer quickly review what they’ve received, and check that they’ve gotten all the items in their order. It also helps you verify the shipment before you send it, and it speeds up your invoicing since you can refer back to the delivery note.

Is a delivery note proof of delivery?

If you get the customer to sign and return the delivery note, it’s a proof of delivery. That’s sometimes referred to as a recorded delivery or signed for delivery.

If you want the customer to provide proof of delivery, it might be a good idea to send the delivery note via email so it’s easy for the customer to sign and return. You can also have an agreement with your delivery provider to return the delivery note.

What is the difference between an invoice and a delivery note?

An invoice is used to confirm a sale and to request payment from the buyer. A delivery note is included in a shipment, and is only meant as a confirmation of which goods are in the package. The delivery note usually doesn’t include prices and payment information.
