What is goods and services tax?
GST, or goods and services tax, is a consumption tax applied to the sale of most goods and services in Australia. The GST rate in Australia is 10 percent.
Businesses that are registered for GST must include GST in their sales prices, collect it from clients, and remit it to the government, so long as its:
- a payment of some kind
- made as part of operating a business
- connected with Australia
The tax applies whether you live in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide or anywhere in else in Australia.
