As a UX designer, front end developer or creative professional, you know a lot about Figma, but maybe you don’t know that much about invoicing. Is it possible to make invoices in Figma? Absolutely!
When you work as a consultant, contractor or freelancer—or maybe you even have your own business—you need to send invoices to get paid for your hours. The invoice is both a request for payment and a document for your bookkeeping and taxes.
Making an invoice might sound difficult, but you can actually do it in Word, Excel, Google Docs, Google Sheets or, you guessed it, Figma. You just have to make sure that you include all the necessary information.
What to include when you make a Figma invoice
Your first instinct might be to focus on the design. While we do recommend that your invoice should look polished and also have a personal touch, you should start by adding all the important elements first.
This is what you have to include in your invoice:
- The word invoice at the top
- Your name, address and contact details
- Your clients name, address and contact details
- The date the invoice was made, also called invoice date
- The invoice number*
- The due date
- A list of the services you’ve provided. Make sure to include a clear description, your unit price or hourly rate, the quantity, and the tax rate, if applicable
- Add up the amounts and show the net amount and the total due
- Payment methods, such as bank account information for bank transfer, or a link to PayPal, Stripe or similar
* An invoice number is a legal requirement. Your invoices should be numbered in order and there should be no gaps in the sequence. This is for tax purposes.

Set up your invoice layout and enter your details. Then create a component so that you can easily reuse the template for future invoices, even if your clients and offerings change.
Remember to personalize your Figma invoice
When you make a Figma invoice, you have the chance to personalize it.
You can use colors, fonts and graphics, but make sure not to go too crazy—you want the invoice to have a personal touch, but you also want it to look professional. One way to do this is to add your logo. The client will be able to tell at a glance who the invoice is from.
